​A new ranking of the nation’s most innovative companies — the CNBC RQ50 — is based on the research quotient (RQ), a concept developed by Anne Marie Knott, PhD, professor of strategy. RQ is a tool for investors that measures firms’ research and development productivity.

Unintended consequences: More high school math, science linked to more dropouts

WUSTL researchers have found that courses intended to better prepare high school graduates for college also drive some students to drop out. They report that policies increasing required math and science courses are linked to a higher high school dropout rate.

Electric car charging station soaks up sunlight

​The electric car charging station in front of Brauer and Whitaker halls is getting a boost from the sun after workers installed solar panels atop the structure last month. In addition to bolstering the university’s commitment to sustainability, the station is connected to research in the School of Engineering & Applied Science.​
